Community Connections Seattle Unlimited (CCS Unlimited) is a restorative circle collaborative organization that strives to: “restore individuals, groups, and communities one circle at a time.” The restorative circle model is nimble and adaptable when it comes to incorporating humanity into situations that may seem to be unsurmountable. Some successful models have been used in prisons check out “The Prison Within” The Prison Within by Katherin H. | SBIFF 2020 - YouTube, and in schools, Restorative Justice in Oakland Schools: Tier One. Mission Statement
Vision:
Introduction to Peace Making and Restorative Circles
The foundation of CCS Unlimited began when Angela Davis was introduced to the Peace Keeping
Model by Center for Ethical Leadership in 2012 with Saroeum Phoung who currently is the owner of Point One North, and the Dominic Barter by Andrea Brenneke and Susan Partnow, around that same time. Each of these models of restorative circle were different in concept. The Peace Keeping Model is a Native American indigenous and ceremonial healing practice that focuses on the building of relationship, trust and community while the Dominic Barter model was focused on slowing conversations down so that people can listen to each other in a deeper level. Each of these restorative circle models were instrumental in the development of CCS Unlimited. Relationships, community, faith, healing, and the restoration of humanity are essential for the mission and vision of CCS Unlimited.
Restorative Circle Practices Structures
Seattle Restorative Justice started in 2012 with Andrea Brenneke, Susan Partnow, and Angela Davis as co-founders of the organization. That created a foundation with City of Seattle Attorney’s office and pre-filing diversions restorative justice pilot starting with the East Precinct of Seattle SPD. This groundbreaking process created the growth of the current restorative justice process in the criminal justice system in the Pacific Northwest. Seattle Restorative Justice worked with: Interagency School and Bastyr. Seattle Restorative Justice ended in 2012 The concept of a faith-based restorative beacon came from the brilliant and collective strategy that was originally Restore 360 in 2015, with Reco Bembry, of Bembry Consulting Services, and Camisha Fatima and Gentry Business Services. Restore 360 was a three-pronged concept of restorative circles; school based, community based, and faith-based. It was out of this concept that the faith-based idea of walking with the wounded was formed. Each of these phases of healing and restoration in the restorative circle model are the foundations of CCS Unlimited’s faith based restorative concepts.
